On the latest State Race adventure, we said hello to a new member of our team.. Meet Abbie! Abbie Dalrymple is a fellow student at KSU as well as a pilot kid like us! Even though she’s got the wings, the crew (Brendon, Blake, and Abbie) drove nearly 10 hours from Georgia while Hunter flew in the next morning.. resulting in a rondevue point and the perfect pickup!
Our first order of business once we arrived in Baltimore was our volunteering, which brought us to the Chesapeake Habitat ReStore – a thrift shop that offers affordable pricing for home goods for the community. The kind, old gentlemen running the store had been there for years, and claimed that the ReStore is the community’s most vital asset. We agree, Mark, thank you for serving your community!
Next, we made our way to a historic battle monument: Battery Key. A ground for mortars which was named by Francis Scott Key – author of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’!
We thought to ourselves as the dark clouds began to fill the sky on our ONLY day in Maryland, “How can we make this trip unique?”.. Well, it’s as if the Maryland gods heard our request, because as we continued driving down the road, a large sign with the words, “Maryland State Fair 2018” appeared. SICK!
We thought we would enjoy some simple funnel cake and ring toss, but we gravely underestimated the fun we were about to have. Thanks to the Maryland State Fair Management, we got the ultimate hookup, which included EVERYTHING! A personal tour around the grounds with an explanation to the fair’s roots. A free cow-milking demonstration (only Hunter milked the cow, the others weren’t so keen on the idea). Complimentary Fair-Food! (Krabby patties, yes. we said it. Official Maryland Crab-meat on a burger bun and flavorful sauce – need we say more? Fried Corn, peach pie). And let’s not forget about the games! We played balloon-darts, ring-toss, rode rides, and even met a fellow fan! We seriously had an amazing time at the fair, so a HUGGE thank you to the Maryland State Fair for the visit!
Before we knew it, we were off to Delaware to continue the adventure. Thanks for reading, and make sure you are following our Instagram for the latest travel updates!
